‘Weaving With Weeds’ with Wild Art Weaver Cynamon Aeria

You will learn which local weeds can be used for weaving & how to prepare them for weaving. We will be using the Tatami technique to make a cute little basket decorated with a choice of wildflowers, gumnuts & eucalyptus leaves for you to take home & use straight a way!

Starter materials provided. Feel free to bring anything plant materials that you would like to incorporate if you like!

Suitable for beginners+ & for 7yo+ (Children must be by accompanied by a paying adult)

Artist Bio

Cynamon Aeria is a Natural Fibre Artist and Sculptor, who uses natural fibre and reclaimed materials to create woven sculptural artworks and installations. Through travels & culture exchanges, she learnt basket weaving techniques from indigenous and master craftspeople, developing her own style of woven orbs, animal sculptures, large-scale street puppets and hanging installations.

Cynamon is also a Teacher and Community Arts Worker with over fifteen years experience in facilitating Community Art Workshops and Art Residencies. She has run many art residencies and workshops, drawing from her wide teaching experience and from her successful collaborations with government organisations, community groups, & schools, throughout WA.
